The bust is currently located in the gardens of the Franchesi Park Hotel in Cortina. I guess the accident must have happened a few days after that.veesixteenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16470278905839578585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-44603201748434404342010-03-30T14:10:19.428-04:002010-03-30T14:10:19.428-04:00I don't know off hand but I will look into it ...I don't know off hand but I will look into it more when I get a chance.Mayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18230268418171628594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-61411219478214004872010-03-30T06:21:34.366-04:002010-03-30T06:21:34.366-04:00Do you know the date when the accident occurred. Do you know if the car belonged to the King?veesixteenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16470278905839578585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-55960749019626127672009-11-28T11:22:46.075-05:002009-11-28T11:22:46.075-05:00Yes, that's true. On the return journey, their car plunged down a ravine again, about 20 metres, but neither Leopold nor Lilian was injured.

And yes, this was kept rather quiet.Mayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18230268418171628594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-76310924322731975912009-11-28T10:13:30.927-05:002009-11-28T10:13:30.927-05:00Queen Astrid was killed when the car driven by Kin...Queen Astrid was killed when the car driven by King Leopold went off the road near Kussnacht, in Switzerland, in 1934. Has anyone ever heard of a second, similar accident involving King Leopold? In the archives of the Antwerp Gazette, circa 1957, are photos of a custom Cadillac roadster by Pinin Farina that went off the road while en route to Cortina d'Ampezzo, in Italy. It is believed the driver was King Leopold. This time, it seems the press were "gagged".veesixteenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16470278905839578585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-20046269759441432012009-02-13T01:38:00.000-05:002009-02-13T01:38:00.000-05:00Thank you, Lucy, I'm glad you had heard about his ...Thank you, Lucy, I'm glad you had heard about his fine character.

Thank you, Cher.128, and welcome to this blog.Mayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18230268418171628594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666114716955489883.post-2558683267417971632009-01-19T09:24:00.000-05:002009-01-19T09:24:00.000-05:00What a wonderful post.
