A Beautiful Portrait
This is my favorite portrait of the first Queen of the Belgians, Louise-Marie of Orléans. I love the rich, contrasting colors and the Queen's expression; it seems to mingle gentleness, humor, intelligence and sadness.
It is a very unusual it has a red hue which I would imagine suggests something more.but Im not knowledgeable enough to suggest what it might be .but it is very stunning and suits her in every way.
You're right- this picture is totally mesmerizing-those colours are so right for her. She's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know more about it, who was the painter and so forth, what the symbolism (if any) might be. But I haven't been able to find much out!
ReplyDeleteSuch a rich blue! How dazzling!
