Victoria & Charlotte

Paintings of the young Queen Victoria, intermingled with portraits of her cousin, Princess Charlotte of Belgium (the future Empress Carlota of Mexico) as a little girl. I was really struck by the family resemblance!

  1. I think I see some resemblance between both Charlotte's and Victoria's face features with those of King Albert I. What do you think?

  2. I had not really focused on that before, but yes, I can see what you mean. For instance, in the photo here:

    The expression and the look of Albert's eyes and nose does remind me of these paintings.

  3. This is confusing. I thought the Charlotte that has a resemblance to Queen Victoria is Charlotte the Princess of Wales.

  4. That is probably true, too. Nonetheless, I was struck by the fact that Victoria seems to have resembled her cousin, Charlotte of Belgium, the future Empress of Mexico.
