Gabrielle de Polignac
As we've been discussing maligned ladies of the past, readers might be interested in this thoughtful and sympathetic reassessment of Marie-Antoinette's beautiful, beloved but controversial best friend.
Elena Maria's article is brilliant. I remember reading the introduction to Anne de Courcy's biography of Lady Diana Mosley, in which she said exceptional beauty always defines its owner's life. And I thought of Gabrielle de Polignac when I read that.
What a wonderful article - thank you for the link to it. I wonder why some people feel a need to destroy rather than admire what is beautiful in others....
The love of one's neighbors, the sense of duty, truth, and justice, if applied to daily life, would spare mankind countless sufferings, troubles, and anxieties ...
The solution of the problems which oppress the world can only be found in the practice of Charity between individuals and between nations.

"Exceptional beauty always defines its owner's life." That is an excellent line!
