RIP Archduchess Regina

The Royal Forums reports on the passing of HI&RH Archduchess Regina, consort of HI&RH Archduke Otto (head of the House of Habsburg from 1922-2007). The Archduchess died this morning at her home in Pöcking, Bavaria, at the age of 85.

May her soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Since her late husband denied the throne in 1962 she was just Regina von Habsburg! Propz Pilgrim

Thanks for the comment. I've actually seen her referred to in different ways; Archduchess Regina, Crown Princess Regina, Regina von Habsburg, etc...

Not her "late husband", HIRH Archduke Otto is still among the living. According to the law of the Republic of Austria they were simply Doctor and Mrs Otto von Hapsburg, but this cannot effect the Archduke's birthright which was established long before there was such a thing as a "Republic of Austria". His renunciation was simply to allow him greater freedom; due to the discriminatory laws of the republic. As such, most of the traditional-minded paid it no attention. He is an archduke, his wife was an archduchess and they were by hereditary right Emperor and Empress of Austria and King and Queen of Hungary etc.

I wonder if Pilgrim meant to say "her former husband."

Yes, the renunciation of titles etc. was basically extorted.
