Lovely Joséphine-Charlotte

Here is a beautiful image of little Princess Joséphine-Charlotte, daughter of King Leopold III and Queen Astrid. Wasn't she adorable?

Is it just me or does she look alot like her mother, especially around the eyes?

Yes, I think there was alot of Astrid in her. But Astrid had darker hair.

Hey, Matterhorn, do you know more about Anna Sparre's life? I only know her father was Baron Theodor Adelsward (a politician) and her mother Countess Anna Douglas.
Anna married twice. First to Count Claes Sparre, with whom sh had a daughter. Sadly, they divorced after 19/20 years of marriage. Anna then remarried to Arne Moe-Larsen, but this marriage too ended in divorce.

Interesting that Anna's first cousin was Princess Margaretha zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, who is Princess Benedikte of Denmark's mother-in-law.

Anna was a historical novelist, who wrote about Swedish queens of the past. Then finally she wrote her memoirs of her friendship with Astrid, where she also discusses some of her own life. I have always found it quite sad and rather strange that the Sparre marriage ended in divorce, after so many years, especially since Anna was quite devoted to her daughter(Christina) and one would think the couple would have kept together just for her sake. It is interesting that her first mother-in-law, Eva Sparre, was Mannerheim's sister.

Someday I may post more on Anna, perhaps on the other blog.

Well, I've seen sometimes news about the Swedish nobility, and it's not uncommon to see nobles married for the second or third time. A real pity.

Well, being Protestants, they would have quite a different view of marriage from Catholics, it would not be seen as the same sort of indissoluble union.
